Live Map Search
Much like finding the perfect spot for your new houseplant, when we asked students what was important when looking for work it quickly became clear that location is everything!
Many students don’t have a vehicle (and those who do feel faint at the idea of buying petrol) and rely on public transport, bikes, or their own two feet to get to work. That’s why our new app includes a live map function that shows jobs near you.
Those who master this feature can find jobs in their location in real time – just zoom in, browse listings, and save the ones that interest you to apply for. Once you know the location of a potential job, you can look up how long it will take to walk or bike or how close the local bus routes go to it, before applying.
Video Introduction
A first in New Zealand job-seeking apps, our new student app lets you record a short intro video so employers can get to know you before you apply.
In a competitive job market, it can feel impossible to make your cover letter and CV stand out, but a video is an opportunity to let your personality sing (we don’t recommend actually singing).
Keep it short and sweet, be professional, and think about what an employer would want to know. What will you bring to their workplace or household? What are your strengths? Why should they hire you?
Think about whether what you are wearing is professional and if the background in your video is appropriate. This is a great opportunity to put your best foot forward!
Quick Apply
Given the competitive nature of the job market, we know many students are having to apply for many jobs before they find success. The repetitive admin can make the most boring lecture feel like a Michael Bay classic in comparison.
The Quick Apply function on our app means for some jobs you can simply click a button and apply instantly. No repetitive forms, no unnecessary admin. Some employers may only view your profile, while some will opt to see your CV as well. If your profile information is up-to-date and you have a current CV uploaded and the Quick Apply option will be available to you.
To make the most of this function, you should take great care when completing your profile. Make sure it is professional, to the point, and includes any information a potential employer might need.
Other features in the Student Job Search app that will make your life easier include smart filters to really narrow down your search and find the perfect job, audio descriptions so you can listen to job listings on the go, key accessibility settings, application tracking, and in-app alerts.
