Personal Support Assistant – Part-Time Position
Location: North Dunedin & Central City
Hours: 6–20 hours per week (flexible, including some evenings and weekends)
Duration: From now until February 2026 (with the option to continue)
Pay rate: $24.30–$30.00 per hour (depending on experience) + holiday pay
About the Role
A working professional in his early 30s, based in Dunedin, is seeking reliable and motivated male support assistants to provide personal and practical assistance in daily living. The role involves supporting independence at home, at work, and in the community, including assistance with fitness and recreation activities such as the gym and swimming.
This is an excellent opportunity for students or young professionals seeking meaningful part-time work in the health, fitness, or support sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, and use of public male facilities.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including wheelchair use.
- Support participation in work, exercise, and community activities.
- Assist with domestic tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and organisation.
- Provide transport and travel assistance when required.
About You
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A professional, respectful, and empathetic approach to care.
- Reliability, discretion, and strong communication skills.
- Physical fitness to assist with transfers and mobility.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong self-management and timekeeping skills.
- Access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential).
- A full driver’s licence (desirable).
- The ability to pass a police check (required post-interview).
Previous experience in support or care work is beneficial but not required — full training will be provided.
