About the Project
Lotto NZ is the largest retailer in New Zealand, known for giving Kiwis the chance to change lives and create millionaires through games like Lotto, Keno, and Instant Kiwi.
As part of their Responsible Gaming commitment, Lotto NZ requires retailers to check ID for anyone who looks under 25 when purchasing Instant Kiwi tickets.
Ipsos, a global market research company, is conducting mystery shopper visits to ensure retailers follow these rules.
Role Description
As a Market Surveyor (Mystery Shopper), you’ll visit a Lotto retailer and attempt to buy:
A $2 Instant Kiwi ticket, and
A $1 Keno ticket
Your task is to observe whether the staff member checks your ID before completing the purchase. Each visit takes about 5–10 minutes, and you’ll be fully reimbursed $3.50 for your purchase and postage.
Requirements
Must be aged 18–24 years old
Must be willing to complete a short screening process (send a recent photo to confirm you look within the target age range)
Must dress casually and appear youthful
Must complete the visit alone (no friends, children, etc.)
Must bring valid ID (Driver’s Licence, Passport, or Kiwi Access/HANZ 18+ Card)
Must not be a regular customer or known by the staff
What You’ll Need to Upload After the Visit
Photo of your unscratched Instant Kiwi ticket
Photo of your Keno ticket showing purchase date and retailer number
Photo of your ID (clearly showing photo and date of birth)
Head and shoulders selfie taken on the day of your visit
Full body selfie taken on the day of your visit (new requirement).All uploads are done through the Ipsos iShopFor Portal.
