THE OPPORTUNITY
Are you a recent graduate ready to make your mark? We're looking for someone who's hungry to learn, humble enough to ask questions, and smart enough to figure things out. This isn't your typical paper-pushing admin role – you'll be at the heart of a dynamic civil construction business, working alongside experienced professionals who genuinely want to see you succeed.
At Excavat, we believe in growing our people. You'll get real responsibility from day one, mentorship from our leadership team, and the chance to shape how we work. If you're someone who takes initiative, stays grounded, and knows how to work well with others – we want to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Finance & Accounts
- Manage accounts payable and receivable – processing purchase orders and bills, assisting with invoicing and progress claims, chasing payments
- Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Support payroll processing and timesheet management
- Help prepare financial reports and cashflow forecasts
- Track project budgets and costs – you'll work directly with our project managers
Administration & Operations
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers – building relationships that matter
- Keep project documentation organised and accessible
- Support compliance and audit preparation
- Get involved in system improvements – we value fresh perspectives on how to work smarter
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We hire for character first. We're looking for people who are:
HUNGRY
You have drive. You're not watching the clock – you're looking for the next thing to learn or improve.
You take initiative without being asked and you're motivated to build something meaningful with your career.
- You volunteer for new challenges
- You're self-motivated and don't need constant direction
- You see problems as opportunities to make things better
HUMBLE
You're grounded. You know you don't have all the answers – and you're comfortable with that. You're quick to give credit to others, happy to do the unglamorous work, and you leave your
ego at the door.
- You ask questions and genuinely listen to the answers
- You admit mistakes and learn from them
- You care about the team's success, not just your own
SMART
You read the room. Not just book-smart (though that helps), but people-smart. You know how to communicate, when to push and when to listen, and how to work effectively with
all kinds of people – from site crews to clients.
- You adapt your communication style to your audience
- You pick up on what's not being said
- You build trust and positive relationships naturally
